Why the pool is measured in dollars, not units
The products in a category can differ several times over in price. Counting units would let a pool of the cheapest item look full while sitting well under the factory’s minimum order, and would punish a buyer who ordered fewer, dearer items for the same money. Order value is the thing the manufacturer actually cares about, so it’s the thing the bar measures.
Why the drops get smaller
The first milestone takes the biggest slice off, and each one after it takes a little less. That isn’t a trick — it’s what the cost curve actually does. Below every price sits a floor built from the landed cost of the goods: the factory price, the duty, the freight, the customs work and the insurance. The ladder approaches that floor and stops. It means the incentive to bring in one more buyer never quite disappears, and it means we can never advertise our way below what the shipment costs.
What early buyers get instead of a better price
Everyone in a pool pays the same unit price — that’s the whole promise, and a secret early-bird price tier would break it. So early buyers get something separate: a percentage of their order value back in cash after the shipment lands. It scales with what you actually order, and the rate steps down as the pool fills. Paid by bank transfer within 30 days of delivery.
